Welcome!
who am I?
I’m Aviva, a musician and teacher born and raised in West Philadelphia.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the Eastman School of Music. After graduating, I returned to Philly to continue studying, teaching, and performing.
My teaching is inspired by the Creative Ability Development method.
Created by Alice Kanack, Creative Ability Development is “a pedagogical system which uses disciplined musical improvisation to develop the creative part of the brain, to heighten each student’s innate musicality, and to enhance creative ability across multiple intellectual pursuits.”
Improvisation is a doorway through which students search for truth and beauty, and find a balance between freedom and discipline.
I also draw on my experience growing up with the Suzuki method, and as a certified yoga instructor and coach in Philadelphia rowing programs.
My greatest mentors and inspirations have been my own teachers.
My wish is that I can be a guide, facilitator, and inspiration for anyone who wants to develop their own creative voice.
